DIA failover between P1 and P2 circuits

Hi community,

I have two links in my setup (Versa device) with SDWAN Priority for DIA traffic set to P1 and P2 accordingly. Also I have IP SLA monitor attached, so when P1 link is down, DIA traffic can go to P2.

The problem is when P1 is back online (again UP), I noticed that many sessions continue to work using P2 circuit and never failover back to P1 circuit automatically.

How can I achieve automatic failover for the event where P1 link is restored after the failure for DIA traffic?

  • Hi fun4net,

I think your observation is related to existing sessions only. They will stay on P2 link unless they finished or P2 link goes down. All new sessions should be established via P1 link if it's alive.

Generally DIA sessions would leverage CGNAT, so switching existing session from one (alive) link to another would mean dropping and re-establishing this session, which may not be wanted behavior.
